I'd really like to try putting just a full-on Mastodon frontend/web UI in front of and see how it feels. Did anyone work on separating the Mastodon frontend from the backend yet? 🤔 I seem to vaguely recall there was something like that for Pleroma but the memory escapes me because it's a sleepy Saturday afternoon

@dumpsterqueer@gts.superseriousbusiness.org Akkoma has the Glitch-Soc front end baked in for whenever you go to /web.

@jase @dumpsterqueer@gts.superseriousbusiness.org Not only does Akkoma have the Glitch-Soc frontend but it also has the Fedibird version of the Mastodon frontend!

@rain @jase baked in front ends don't really help here, I'm looking for a standalone version that you can just deploy somewhere, like with pinafore, and log into whatever instance with it... In other words, a server-software agnostic version of the masto frontend

@dumpsterqueer@gts.superseriousbusiness.org @rain that definitely would great. Definitely a starting point maybe though. The Akkoma variant of it definitely probably is the nearest at least to getting in that direction as of current, since if I can remember back with Pleroma it was separate rather than being baked in so I assume now it's just bundled with Akkoma.

But yea, so would love seeing that. Then hey, you could say have a /web redirect to said instance of the front end or something haha.
